There are four ways to put prismatic battery cells in to battery case. I will introduce it, together with the logic behind.
1. Upright PACK: This is the most common way to place batteries, that is, the positive pole of the battery faces upward. This method facilitates heat dissipation and electrical connection, and also facilitates monitoring and management of battery status.
2. Side PACK: In this design, the battery cell is placed sideways. This method is usually used in space-constrained applications, and more batteries can be accommodated in a smaller space, thereby increasing energy capacity.
3. Flat PACK: When the battery cell is placed flat, it usually refers to the side of the battery cell contacting the cooling system, such as liquid cooling or air cooling. This method can more effectively manage heat, especially in high-power applications.
4. Inverted PACK: This is a relatively new PACK design, but it is the most unreasonable design to define this design purely from the perspective of PACK. The method adopted by Xiaomi Auto SU7. The inverted placement of the battery cell can improve space utilization, and in some cases, such as thermal runaway, it can more safely discharge high-temperature gases.
